Everton face Chelsea on Thursday

Everton travels to London for the second successive game as they prepare to face Chelsea. Last Sunday, the Toffees succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, their seventh loss in nine games.

The Toffees go into the game with minimal hopes of extracting a result against a rampant Chelsea side that have lost just once in the last 15 games in all competitions. Rafael Benitez is treading on dangerous grounds but has iterated that he has the full backing of owner Farhad Moshiri.

Thomas Tuchel’s side has frightening squad depth as compared to the Toffees who are reduced to bare bones after the latest injury wave. Everton are without Richarlison, Andros Townsend, Tom Davies, Lucas Digne and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Chances of Everton getting a result are as scarce as hen’s teeth. The side will see numerous changes from the side that was fielded against Palace as key members are set to miss the game.

Goalkeeper: Jordan Pickford

Jordan Pickford has conceded 25 goals in 15 Premier League games and has just kept three clean sheets. The poor clean sheet record is partially down to the underwhelming defensive performances by the rearguard. Chelsea are another difficult opposition and Pickford could be set for another long night.
