Allan could be back in the Everton midfield

Midfield:

Central defensive midfield: Fabian Delph

Lately, Fabian Delph has become a regular player in the team. When Abdoulaye Doucoure got injured, Delph stepped him and put up a sizeable shift in the midfield. On some days, he was the best player in the midfield, even though; the results did not go Everton’s way.

A three man midfield has yielded some positive results. Against Arsenal, when the Toffees switched to a midfield three, transformation was seen instantly and an extra man in the midfield made a sizeable impact. Delph can play as a central defensive midfielder and guard the defence while spraying passes forward.

Central midfield: Allan

Allan is a warrior. This is what Rafa Benitez told to the press when asked about his fitness. The Brazilian has said that he will be available if needed and there was a sense of optimism from Benitez regarding Allan’s fitness. With Allan coming back, Andre Gomes could demote to the bench.

The former Napoli man’s press breaking runs and pressuring style could come in handy for Everton. With Delph sitting deep, Allan can have some extra freedom.

Central midfield: Abdoulaye Doucoure

Abdoulaye Doucoure and Allan will operate as central midfielders and carry out the job of trying to negate the strength of the Chelsea midfield. Doucoure’s box-to-box runs and his combative energy will be required if the Toffees are to stand any chance in winning the midfield battle.
