How often does Everton striker Richarlison get injured?

Turns out, Richarlison has managed to keep him injury free for the most part of his Everton career. The Brazilian joined Everton in 2018 from Watford and has been an enigmatic presence ever since. In fact, Richarlison hasn’t picked up any major injury which sidelined him for months.

The 24 year old didn’t miss as many as five games in a row in his first three years at Goodison Park but the recent knee injury kept him out for six games. The Brazilian returned to action but then picked up a calf injury which will keep him out for a few weeks.

Here’s a list of Richarlison’s injuries and most recent updates on the current injury he has sustained.

Richarlison injury history

Richarlison calf injury, December 2021

Richarlison started the game against Crystal Palace and was taken off in the second half, a change that didn’t go too well with the fans. Later, Rafa Benitez gave an explanation that the 24 year old was down with a calf problem and had to be taken off.

"In this case, we knew he had a problem. The conversation I had with him this morning was clear and he recognised he wanted to be on the pitch but he understands we are trying to do the best for him and the best for the team. (via Liverpool ECHO)"

Scans later revealed that the former Watford man has suffered a tear in the calf and is set to miss a number of games. With the striker now out being for weeks and Dominic Calvert-Lewin also rehabilitating from his injury, the Toffees are left with minimum squad depth in the striker’s position.

When the first injury wave struck Everton, Richarlison also picked up a knee injury against Burnley, as a result of James Tarkowski’s wild tackle. The forward missed the next five games as the Toffees crumbled with injuries to their key assets.

Richarlison worked his way back to fitness after recovering from the knee injury, making a comeback against Watford and scoring on his return although the team’s performance was shambolic as the Hornets ran riot at Goodison Park.

Richarlison knock, January 2021

Richarlison missed an FA Cup game against Rotherham United as the Toffees needed extra time to get past the then Championship side. Cenk Tosun scored a brace but the Toffees had to toil hard for the victory. The Brazilian’s absence was felt but in the end substitutions from Carlo Ancelotti did the trick.

Richarlison head injury, December 2020

The former Watford attacker missed one game for Everton in December 2020 after coming off against Manchester United in a Carabao Cup game. The Brazilian received a blow on the head through an accidental collision with Eric Bailly and the doctors advised a substitution. Following the concussion guidelines, the striker sat out of the Sheffield United game on Boxing Day.
