As transfer rumours continue to build could a rival Premier League club to Everton provide them with a player that might help the Blues’ improve after the New Year?
That player is Southampton’s Mohamed Elyounoussi who is being linked with a potential move in the January transfer window and could Everton be his destination?
If it’s true that he is available, it is a little suprising as the Norway international has been a pretty good player for the Saints and although he hasn’t started many games this season, he’s still got five goals so far.
Elyounoussi actually started, played the full ninety minutes and scored in Southampton’s last match, a 3-2 win at West Ham. That win moved the Saints one place above Everton in the Premier League table.
You would think then that he is an integral part of Ralf Hassenhutl’s squad. Still, according to the BBC, he is player rumoured to be possibly available in January.
He’s not exactly a headline-grabbing type of signing but he maybe a decent option to consider say on loan.
The 27-year-old is a player who can operate across the midfield and in attack, being particularly strong on the right. He is solid defensively and likes to get forward and look to score goals.
Given his strengths, the Noweigan might be a useful player to bring in allowing Rafa Benitez to play a three-man midfield as that’s a formation he seems ideally suited to. This is also, as I’ve repeatedly said, something I would like to see much more of this season.
The Toffees’ are looking for midfield reinforcements and Elyounoussi could well fit that bill. He’s additionally a player who won’t cost nearly as much in wages for example as a player like Aaron Ramsey, another midfielder constantly linked with Everton.
A further player that the BBC mention in their piece who is one I’ve also flagged before as a good potential option for the Blues’ to consider when the January transfer window opens.
That player is Blackburn’s Ben Brereton Diaz. The Chile international has been in superb form this season and is a player who has probably been catching the eye of a number of Premier League clubs as the campaign has progressed.
I think Brereton would be an excellent addition to Everton’s squad and his qualities are just what the Toffees’ need more of. In particular he is a very versatile forward and especially a strong counter-attacking threat.
Both these players are among a plethera of names being attached to a possible move away form their current clubs with just a week to go before the window opens and could they be options for Everton to look at?
