Reports today have Everton linked with a forward playing in Italy’s Serie A as rumours claim the Toffees are eyeing a move for Dejan Kulusevski of Juventus.

According to this story Everton are keeping tabs in the Swedish starlet who is currently playing at the cash-strapped Italian giants.

Juve are known to be in significant financial straights (just like the Blues’) and are looking to offload a number of players to reduce their huge wage bill and free up funds for other signings.

As we all know the Toffees’ have already been linked numerous times with a move for midfielder Aaron Ramsey, a player the Turin club are apparently desperate to be rid of.

Now, comes a new rumour about this 21-year-old forward. Unsurprisingly, given his age and relative inexperience, Kulusevski hasn’t been a regular in the Juventus team unsurprisingly, and has mostly been a substitute when he has played.

Still, the Swedish forward has registered a respectable four assists so far this season, which is not a bad retun for a player mainly coming off the bench.

According to Whoscored, Kulusevski is a forward who like so many young players today, can play in a variety of positions up front.

This player certainly has the sort of profile that would have made him a possible target of former Director of Football Marcel Brands.

Obviously, the Dutchman has now left the club so there is more uncertainty about exactly what kind of player profile is now most favoured.

And, Everton got their fingers burnt bringing in a young forward from the Italian club in 2019. That was Moise Kean of course, who’s ill-fated move to Merseyside ended last summer after he had spent last season on loan at PSG.

But, if all the rumours are true, the Blues’ are very close to signing a 21-year-old Ukrainian full-back Vitaly Mykolenko. So, it certainly seems that Rafa Benitez – who is now much more influential in transfer business – is prepared to take a punt on young players.

Although this Toffees’ squad requires strengthening across the board, it doesn’t appear as though the forwards are as much a priority for the manager as improving the defence, especially right-back, and midfield.

However, several loan moves might materalise during the window so it wouldn’t be suprising if some unexpected names arrived. Might Kulusevski be one of them?
