According to more reports today Everton are lining up a bid for the Borussia Moenchengladbach midfielder Dennis Zakaria.

This player has been linked with Everton several times already and today’s story claims the Blues’ have initiated contact with his agent over a possible move next year.

HITC are the outlet carrying this story and they say the Toffees have spoken to the player’s agent with the view to trying to sign him in 2022, perhaps as early as next month.

The Swiss international has told his German club he won’t be signing a new deal so they will likely have to cash in on him before the summer.

Once again, a tentative media story making a link to a player and Everton that is probably entirely without any foundation.

Zakaria is however the type of midfielder the Blue’s could most likely do with. He’s a player still to reach his peak perhaps and with both defensive and attacking qualities he would add some additional steel and creativity to the Toffees’ centre.

Arsenal are also credited with interest in the 25-year-old and although he’s not playing for a top Bundesliga side, I would imagine there would be some competition for his signature.

Is this a rumour of any substance or is it like those we covered yesterday, likely a purely unfounded one which simply makes for a post-Christmas wish list?

In other stories Everton are yet again being linked with Juventus and Wales star Aaron Ramsey with fresh rumours that the Italian club will offload him next month.

Again, we’ve done this one to death too and I don’t think Ramsey will be coming through the door at Goodison Park.

Regardless of whether he fits the sort of player profile the club need, his wages are too high for a start and the other Premier League club linked with the Welshman, Newcastle United are a more probably destination.
