Anwar El Ghazi is rumoured to be on his way to Goodison Park most probably on a loan deal. However, the details seem to be complicated as Farhad Moshiri seems to be leading the Everton negotiations, not Rafa Benitez.

As the Lucas Digne transfer saga seems to be coming to an end and seems to be joining Aston Villa soon, the El Ghazi rumours have gathered pace all day.

It now seems that Moshiri has orchestrated the deal through his good friend and El Ghazi’s agent Kia Joorabchian. I believe this is only a loan deal, not a permanent deal or linked to the Digne transfer.

Also what makes the deal even more strange is that Everton manager Benitez does not actually want El Ghazi to be part of the Everton squad in this window. This news was broke on a live Everton Twitter space this evening by close contact of Everton club sources, as seen below:

This really puts into question who is running footballing affairs at Goodison Park, Moshiri or Benitez? If Moshiri is putting his efforts into signing players surely he should be communicating with the fans more and be visible at Finch Farm and Goodison Park? Benitez has many questions highlighted against him at the moment, but surely the owner undermining him for this deal will cause major upset in the hierarchy.

This will be a really interesting development over the coming days and Benitez’s pre-Norwich press conference will be very interesting if this deal has been done or is still in the pipeline.

There has been speculation another winger could be required in this window and a loan deal for El Ghazi may well suit both clubs, but will he play if the manager didn’t want him in the first place?

The soap opera at Everton continues to amaze…

Should the Toffees attempt the signing of Anwar El Ghazi?
