Everton are on course to acquire the services of Donny van de Beek as things stand. The Toffees completed some early business in the transfer window acquiring Nathan Patterson and Vitaliy Mykolenko permanently and bringing Anwar El Ghazi on loan. Since then, the tsunamis of crisis have hit the Everton shore as Rafa Benitez was sacked, following a dismal run.

Almost half of the winter transfer window has gone into searching for a new manager as Everton struggled to be involved on two fronts – finding a manager and looking for the right transfer opportunities. Without a manager, a director of football and the head of recruitment, Everton’s transfer business would have sounded like a headless chicken running on the farm.

With Frank Lampard all but certain to become the next Everton boss, it is safe to say some organization will be restored. During the interview, the name of Van de Beek was discussed and he was a player that Lampard rates highly.

The Royal Blues had tried to bring the Dutchman in the summer but Manchester United refused to sanction the loan deal. United’s stance has now changed, paving way to a loan deal for Van de Beek. Crystal Palace were said to be front runners but Everton have joined the race of late.

Donny van de Beek will join Everton

In fact, the Toffees already have an agreement in place with Manchester United over a loan deal. Everton will cover 100% the player wages and the deal will only be a simple loan without any option to buy. The decision was to be made by Van de Beek.

According to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein, Van de Beek has decided to join Everton for the rest of the season. Palace were also in the running but the 24 year old seems inclined to join the Merseyside outfit.

Van de Beek will add much needed depth to the midfield and potentially walk into the first team under Lampard. The former Ajax man has struggled for game time, playing just 380 minutes of football. A loan deal will aid him in bringing his career on track. He could play a key role in Everton’s second half of the season.
