Doucoure arrived at Everton in the summer window of 2020 as Carlo Ancelotti added power and steel to the midfield. The Frenchman has formed a formidable duo with Allan as the two continue to play their roles with aplomb in the heart of the midfield. The sheer power and combative nature of Doucoure make him a dangerous player in the midfield.
Doucoure remains quintessential to the Everton midfield, especially because of his box-to-box profile. So, whenever the former Watford man suffers an injury that puts him on the sidelines for a prolonged spell, it does cause troubles to Everton.

Abdoulaye Doucoure Groin injury, January 2022
Doucoure was forced off in the game against Aston Villa, coming off in the 65th minute. He was replaced by Tyler Onyango and later it was confirmed that the Frenchman had suffered a groin injury.
There was no timeframe put earlier to his return but once assessment was carried out by the medical team at Finch Farm, it was revealed that the 29 year old will miss at least four weeks of action. Roughly, he’ll still miss at least the next four games against Newcastle United, Leeds United, Southampton and Manchester City unless there is a magical recovery.

The Frenchman suffered a stress bone fracture during the home game against West Ham United in October. Even though the midfielder played the entire 90 minutes of the game, Everton soon released a statement confirming Doucoure’s injury.
Contrary to the early reports, the former Watford man wouldn’t require surgery but would be out for six to eight weeks. During this period, he missed four games with the Toffees dearly missing their engine as they lost three and drew one.
The 29 year old did return to the lineup against Brentford after recovering from the injury but still looked jaded and out of sync.

Doucoure sustained a foot fracture in March 2021, as the Toffees made a push for Europe under Carlo Ancelotti. This was a devastating blow for Everton given their European ambitions and how influential had Doucoure become in the Everton setup.
Ancelotti confirmed that he would miss eight to ten weeks of action which pretty much indicated the end of the season for the Frenchman. The midfielder ended up missing eight games where they only managed to win one game. Miraculously, Doucoure recovered and played the final four games of the season.
