Yerry Mina and Mason Holgate could partner in Everton central defence

Defenders:

Right back: Seamus Coleman

Perhaps, if Lampard is a brave experimentalist, he will put Nathan Patterson at right back but it seems that the common consensus is to let the Scotsman first groom and fine-tune himself to the pace of the Premier League.

Seamus Coleman should retain his place in the starting lineup given the experience and leadership he brings to the side, which could be crucial in the coming days and weeks, especially if, the Toffees do end up in a relegation scrap.

Centre back: Yerry Mina

Yerry Mina is the first scorer of the Lampard era. That has nothing to do with his defensive performances but he was sound and reliable at the back. Coming on as a substitute for Ben Godfrey, Mina put up a solid show. His aerial dominance will be required to negate the strengths of Chris Wood.

Centre back: Mason Holgate

After par or below par performances, Mason Holgate finally had an impressive outing against Brentford. The Englishman was calm and didn’t make errors that could cost the team. With the presence of Micheal Keane and Mina around him, the former Barnsley man felt secured which allowed him to play his game and put in a performance that will delight Lampard.

Left back: Vitaliy Mykolenko

Vitaliy Mykolenko like a silent hero, did a fantastic job against Thomas Frank’s side. While others like Andre Gomes and Anthony Gordon received applauses, Mykolenko silently showcased his abilities.

Against Newcastle, the Ukrainian will have to limit Ryan Fraser and also try to push up the flanks in order to support the left winger.
