Everton host Leeds United at Goodison Park

After Everton’s surrender to Newcastle United at St James’ Park, the Toffees now play another ‘must win’ game this weekend, hosting Marcelo Bielsa’s struggling Leeds. The underwhelming performances from both sides this season have proved that neither side is not too good to go down nor if Everton does not turn the tide in their favour, they will be staring at an ugly and nasty relegation scrap.

Frank Lampard’s hands are tied as far as team selection goes. Injuries have once again pushed Everton to the brink of the bare minimum, only this time, they do have some depth to count on, thanks to the additions in the winter transfer window.

The defence has suffered the most, with centre backs Yerry Mina and Ben Godfrey injured. Meanwhile, Vitaliy Mykolenko is also set to miss the game due to COVID. In midfield, Lampard will be without Abdoulaye Doucoure, Tom Davies and Fabian Delph. Demarai Gray will also miss the Leeds clash after being forced out due to injury against Newcastle.

With limited options, Lampard must figure out the best starting eleven in a must win tie which has crucially turned into a relegation six pointer.

Everton predicted lineup vs Leeds United:

Goalkeeper: Jordan Pickford

Without a doubt, Jordan Pickford starts in goal. The Englishman conceded three goals against the Magpies and will be determined to keep a clean sheet this time around. The last time Pickford kept a clean sheet was back in November in a 0-0 game against Spurs.
