Finally, we come to the forwards. Here again several players really have to show they can make a big improvement in their form and productivity in the coming weeks and months for this team.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been out injured for most of the season and is still not near his sharpest either in terms of his overall play or goals.

He is one Toffees’ player who really needs a strong finish to the campaign and if he could rediscover the sort of goalscoring form we saw at times last season and this, it might make a big difference.

His usual forward partner Richarlison, has had a few moments this season but again his productivity in terms of goals has been well down, as it was last season too. Part of this is because of his being moved around, playing up front on his own and having very little consistent support from those around him in a poor team.

The Brazilian scored for his country in a recent World Cup qualifer and again the Blues’ are going to need more of that with just a few weeks left.

One player who’s efforts have been consistently strong is Anthony Gordon. The Liverpool-born youngster has been one of the very few positives to come out of this dreaful season.

He has shown real commitment to the cause and has become a key creative influence. One thing that wiuld be good to see though in these last few weeks is a few more goals from the Scouse forward.

Gordon has struck up a good understanding with Demarai Gray and he’s another player who needs to be at his best in the run-in. His pace and movement offer a real threat and help keep opposing defence’s honest.

This is all a big ask for so many players to find their best in this crucial set of games which could decide the club’s future. But, without all these individuals in the team’s spine stepping up it’s hard to see Everton surviving.
