Everton continues to battle for their Premier League survival and the recent back to back home wins against Newcastle United and Manchester United have eased some pressure off the shoulders. But, this is no time to take the foot off the pedal as eight crucial games still remain which will decide the fate of the club.

Youngsters like Anthony Gordon have excelled under Frank Lampard. Throughout Lampard’s managerial career, he has been instrumental in the development of youngsters and he does have a special eye for burgeoning young talents.

Since his arrival at Everton, a number of Chelsea players have been linked with a move to Everton. Most of them have been youngsters who may not see an immediate future at Stamford Bridge. Most of them have been loaned out and have been impressing at their clubs.

Armando Broja, Connor Gallagher and Billy Gilmour have been more frequently linked with a move to Everton. Lampard handed out Chelsea debuts to Gilmour and Broja and knows them well from his Chelsea days. Another Chelsea loanee has now joined the list as Levi Colwill became the latest Chelsea starlet linked to the Toffees.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Colwill is attracting a lot of interest from a host of English clubs. Currently on loan at Huddersfield Town, the 19 year old has featured in 26 Championship games, playing a crucial role in the defence. Apart from Everton, there is Southampton, Leicester City, Fulham and Huddersfield Town following the teenager.

The Chelsea hierarchy has been extremely happy with Colwill’s progress and manager Thomas Tuchel will assess the player before the start of the next season. Colwill can follow the footsteps of Fikayo Tomori and more recently Trevor Chalobah but for that to happen the 19 year old will have to stick at Chelsea. Given the possible departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, the London based outfit will need deputies and Colwill be a natural fit.

However, if he intends to leave Stamford Bridge in pursuit of regular football, there are clubs waiting in line for his signature. Everton could overhaul their defence with the likes of Mason Holgate being viewed as expendable. The Toffees may want to bring in another young centre back and facilitate his development.

If the Toffees are to stand a chance in signing Colwill, they will have to ensure that they remain in the Premier League.
