Everton are officially safe! On the 18th of May, the majority owner of Everton football club, Farhad Moshiri, celebrated his 67th birthday and on the 19th of May, his club steered clear of relegation by defeating Crystal Palace at the Goodison Park in sublime fashion.

Down by 2 goals at half-time, it seemed as if nothing can be done to avoid defeat but a miraculous comeback saw the Goodison side claim 3 points and thanks to Burnley’s 1-1 draw against Aston Villa at the Villa Park, the Royal Blues are safe from the drop irrespective of whatever happens in the last game week of the Premier League season.

Leeds United are currently 18th in the table with Watford and Norwich City already relegated who sit in 19th and 20th respectively. Basically, this win against Patrick Vieira’s side was an absolute necessity.

Frank Lampard’s passionate celebration at the full-time whistle showed the relief of everyone associated with the Merseyside club as this season has been an absolute disaster but as the old saying goes, all’s well that ends well. With such an exciting end to the season, there is hope that the upcoming season will be more positive and hopefully a fresh start for the club after years of disappointment.

Where will Everton finish this season?

Everton are likely to finish in 16th this season unless Leicester City defeats Southampton at the King Power Stadium and Everton snatches 3 points from Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, in that scenario the Merseyside club can finish in 15th place. Nothing great but at least the club won’t have to face the disaster of relegation this season.

This campaign has been full of ups and downs but the support from the Goodison Park faithful has always been at its peak, something that every person associated with this club is proud of, a loyal fan base that is with their side through thick and thin.

Everton travel to London to play Arsenal on the 22nd of May to conclude the 2021-22 season. Let’s hope that Lampard’s men finish off the season in style with a win.

Can Everton defeat Arsenal this Sunday?
