No one player should get all the credit for helping Everton achieve its goal of securing safety. It was a complete team effort but there were many heroes who rose up to the challenge and performed exceptionally well, pushing beyond their limits to help Everton achieve safety.

Other than the players, a more significant role was that of the manager appointed on the 31st of January 2022, Frank Lampard. Thanks to the disastrous Rafa Benitez spell, Everton were fighting for survival in the Premier League instead of battling for a spot to be in the top 10.

Many expected the club to fall below their 10th place finish in the 2020-21 Premier League campaign but such a drop-off wasn’t expected. Going into the final 10 matches of this season, there was worry around the camp that the club might actually get relegated for the first time since 1951.

Everton started the run-in with a 3-2 defeat against Burnley, another side embroiled in a relegation battle.

It looked like relegation was inevitable for Everton

Sitting in 18th, the last 9 games were crucial and Lampard’s side delivered 4 wins, including wins against Chelsea, Manchester United, and Leicester City.

Many players stepped up and showed courage in this relegation battle, here is a list of players that we think deserve a shout for helping the Royal Blues avoid relegation.
