Everton’s transfer window seems to be picking pace as a number of transfer links are circulating in the media. However, given Everton’s delicate financial situation with respect to the Profit and Sustainability rules, it is likely that the Toffees will have to make a sale before they make a purchase. Everton midfielder Allan is touted for an exit.
The midfielder joined Everton in the summer of 2020 when Carlo Ancelotti pushed for him. When Ancelotti departed for Real Madrid, questions arose over Allan’s future but the Brazilian stayed at Merseyside showing his commitment to the club.
This season, particularly under Frank Lampard, Allan has seen his role diminish as Lampard trusted Fabian Delph to carry out the role in defensive midfield when Everton were struggling and staring at potential relegation.
Allan played 28 games this season, mostly playing as a part of a midfield two, having more defensive duties and being asked to guard the backline. The former Napoli man was linked with a move back to Italy last summer. Similar links emerged again with Lazio’s boss Maurizio Sarri wanting to reunite with Allan.
Everton midfielder Allan offered to Lazio
It appears that the rumour mill is spinning again as Corriere Dello Sport (via Sport Witness) reports that Allan has been offered to Lazio and there’s a chance that the Brazilian will leave the Merseyside club this summer.
Sarri and Allan worked together at Napoli for three years and the Italian manager was successful in bringing out the best in the midfielder. Sarri is thinking to reunite with Allan and has not discarded Allan as an option in the transfer window.
It seems that even the 31 year old is scrambling to secure an exit from Goodison Park. Allan signed a three year deal in 2020 meaning that he is set to enter the final year of his deal this year. If Everton does not renew him, the 31 year old can leave for free at the end of 2022-23 season.
Cashing in on Allan makes the most sense for Everton if they do not want to extend the Brazilian’s deal. However, for Lazio, signing the midfielder isn’t going to be a walk in the rose garden. The Italians will have to pay a substantial amount as Everton will look to recoup the most of the £25 million they paid for the midfielder.

Another issue is the Brazilian’s high salary of £3.65 million a year. If Lazio sign him and offer the same wages, he’ll become the club’s fourth highest wage earner behind Ciro Immobile, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Luis Alberto.
However, whether Allan is put on sale or not will depend on Everton’s summer plans. The former Chelsea boss is keen to bring a No.6 to the club and if he decides to sell the 31 year old, Lazio will be waiting.
