Nathan Broadhead – Sunderland

Nathan Broadhead and his club had one goal for the month of May and that was to secure promotion. Sunderland played Sheffield Wednesday in the semi final and defeated Wycombe in the final to reach the EFL Championship.

Broadhead had an extremely quiet month for Sunderland despite the club’s success. He had two appearances but only played for a combined three minutes during that span. The manager’s decision to keep Broadhead off the pitch shows that he still has some improving to do before he can compete in big games.

Broadhead will return to Everton in June but expect another loan or a permanent departure as clubs remain interested in the 24 year old.

Niels Nkounkou

Niels Nkounkou did not play a match this month and is set to return to Everton in July. He is a versatile defender that can change the pace and challenge Vitaliy Mykolenko for minutes when he returns. The 21-year old could also benefit from another loan to a more competitive league.

Nkounkou should be a chess piece for Everton sometime in the near future. It will be up to Lampard to utilize his unique skill set.

Ellis Simms

Ellis Simms did not continue his quality form from last month and his team struggled along with him. The Hearts of Midlothian played four matches to finish their season and they did not win a single match. Simms had an early goal against Celtic in his first game of the month but his club proceeded to lose that game 4-1.

The rest of the month was very forgettable for Simms and the Hearts. They lost a hard fought match against the Rangers in their final match of the season. That match went 120 minutes and Simms’ club got shut out.

Simms will return to Everton next season but he will have trouble finding play time in the English Premier League. Another loan could be in the cards for the 21-year old striker.
