Everton could do with a talented midfielder like Billy Gilmour

1. Billy Gilmour

Billy Gilmour made his Chelsea debut under Lampard, in a pre-season game. The Scotsman made a total of 11 appearances in the 2020-21 season, impressing from midfield. With Thomas Tuchel having a world class midfield who had just won the UEFA Champions League, sending Gilmour out on loan was a wise decision.

The 20 year old was sent to Norwich City for the 2021-22 season. At Norwich, Gilmour featured in 28 games. Even though the Canaries couldn’t save themselves from the drop, the Chelsea loanee showed tremendous signs of development and continued his rise to prominence.

The central midfielder can be one of the smartest minds on the pitch. His technique and the ability to put in perfectly weighted passes makes him a wonderful addition to have in the side.

Gilmour doesn’t boast the most impressive attacking stats but his quick thinking under pressure and ability to scan the field and pick the right pass make Gilmour a dream for managers.

He can operate as a deep lying playmaker, a role that Lampard emulated in his later Chelsea days. Bringing Gilmour on loan could be another wise decision as the Toffees could save some money and invest it in reinforcing some other position.

Chelsea could once again incline to loaning Gilmour and sending him to Everton where Lampard will take great care, would be a beneficial decision for Chelsea. For Everton, they get a supremely talented midfielder who can provide much needed depth in the midfield.
