Arsenal have been long term admirers of Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Arsenal

Arsenal are another team who has struggled to live up to their reputation. The fans of the gunners expect titles yet the team has not qualified for the Champions League since the 2015-2016 season. Leicester City won the league that same year and Arsenal finished as the runner up.

The Gunners finished just one win shy of a champions league appearance this season. They had a high scoring forward group featuring Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli on the wing with Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette holding down the striker position. Arsenal believes they can get more out of their strikers next season through a transfer. The combo of Nketiah and Lacazette only produced nine goals this season and both players appear to be on the hot seat.

While Nketiah is set to sign a new deal with Arsenal, it is increasingly likely that Lacazette will depart on a free transfer after his deal runs out this summer. Calvert-Lewin is viewed as a direct replacement for the Frenchman.

Calvert-Lewin played about 500 minutes less than Lacazette this season and managed to score more goals in that span. In addition, Lacazette missed six big chances which is double the amount of his potential replacement last season. Calvert-Lewin could be the difference that helps Arsenal push towards the top four, a feat they have been striving for.
