Dominic Calvert-Lewin has remained on Newcastle’ radar in the last few months

Newcastle United

Newcastle United are a team trending up in the Premier League after their 11th placed finish this season. The team finished in the bottom half of the league in scoring and a complete overhaul could be coming this summer.

The first replacement of this overhaul should be 30-year old striker Callum Wilson. Wilson has been a solid striker for the Magpies this season but he is getting old and he was injury prone last season. The Newcastle striker had a similar yet slightly better season than Calvert-Lewin but don’t expect this trend to continue.

Both players struggled with injury and sat out nearly half the season. Wilson finished with three more goals than Lewin but the age difference is significant. Calvert-Lewin is five years younger than Wilson and his potential is off the charts. Calvert-Lewin is an absolute beast when healthy with more than 12 goals in each of the last seasons prior to this one.

Newcastle United are a team that loves to score goals through the middle of the field. The second leading scorer, behind Wilson, was Bruno Guimaraes with five goals this season. The club loves feeding the middle of the pitch and Calvert-Lewin is the ideal fit to finish in front of the net for the magpies.

The Saudi backed club will have an enormous amount of cash this summer and they want to break into the top six under Eddie Howe’s tutelage. Newcastle views the 25 year old striker to be the prime face of the revolution.
