Everton ace Dominic Calvert-Lewin could be a Cristiano Ronaldo successor

Manchester United

Manchester United is another club that could make a move for Calvert-Lewin after a somewhat disappointing season. The team has several ageing forwards including superstar signing Cristiano Ronaldo who scored 18 goals this season.

The forward group for Manchester United appears crowded at first glance but with Edinson Cavani departing and Mason Greenwood’s legal situation, the team is suddenly in need of a striker.

Calvert-Lewin is the perfect balance between youth and experience for Manchester. The 25-year old could thrive in a depth role for Manchester United next season. The club runs a 4-2-3-1 formation with a single high striker.

Ronaldo has that role locked down but with Erik ten Hag taking over the reins, he’ll want a hardworking forward who can run down the channels. The Englishman could still play quality bench minutes and be the successor to Ronaldo when he hangs up the cleats.

Ronaldo is 37-years old so it’s not out of the question to think about life after the all-time great. in fact, the Portuguese’ future is also a bit uncertain at the moment and if he does leave, Calvert-Lewin could end up being the starter. If Ronaldo stays, it Calvert-Lewin will sooner or later become a starter at Old Trafford as Ronaldo slows down.
