Maurizio Sarri extenmded his Lazio stay until 2025. In order to please the Italian, Lazio president Claudio Lotito wants to bring players who are familiar with Sarri’s style and systems. Everton midfielder Allan has remained on Sarri’s list for a long time.
The midfielder played some of the best football of his career at Napoli under Sarri before the Italian manager left Patenopei to join Chelsea. Sarri wants to revitalize his midfield and is looking at the different profiles of players.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek of Chelsea was a top priority but the chances of Loftus-Cheek leaving Chelsea were quashed by his agent, Jonathan Barnett. Allan was certainly an option but in a recent interview, Allan revealed that he doesn’t see himself leaving the Toffees.
"I think my professional destiny will remain unchanged. I’ll stay at Everton, as far as I know. I’m happy in England, I have the trust of a club I’m proud of, with impressive facilities and to which I owe respect. (via The Laziali)"
Lazio still keen on Everton midfielder Allan
However, it seems that Lazio’s interest in Allan hasn’t cooled down. Lazio are still looking at the Brazilian alongside Napoli’s Piotr Zelienksi. The Polish international recently renewed his deal with Napoli. In order to bring him at Lazio, Sarri is willing to sacrifice Luis Alberton and propose an exchange with Napoli.
In the background, the former Juventus manager still admires Allan. According to Tutto Mercato Web, Sarri is waiting for Allan but a transfer to the Italian capital will only be possible if the 31 year old midfielder terminates his current contract with the Toffees.
The Brazilian seems to be comfortable at Everton. He has a contract till 2023 and so far there are no indications about Everton wanting to cash in on the midfielder. Frank Lampard is surely targeting a midfield rebuild but a lot of the transfer plans will depend on the sales made this summer.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Richarlison could depart in big money moves allowing the Toffees to reinforce the squad. If the Toffees do not plan to offer an extension to the former Napoli man, it would be smart to cash in on him this summer instead of letting him go for free next summer. Allan will not have a great resale value too as he is on the wrong side of 30.
However, the Toffees will first need to bring a holding midfielder or someone similar to Allan’s profile with the names of Cheick Doucoure doing rounds.
Will Sarri manage to take Allan away from Everton?
