Everton are in full rebuild mode after their disappointing season and Frank Lampard will be aggressive with buying players during his first summer as manager. The team is currently seeking a forward to replace Richarlison or Dominic Calvert-Lewin should one or both players depart this summer.

Among Lampard’s newest prospects is a young striker currently in the French League at Montpellier. According to Fabrizio Romano, Stephy Mavididi is the target and the 24-year old will almost certainly be making a move this summer.

Mavididi was a young star for Arsenal back in 2018 but was moved to the French League for a few seasons. The English native will now likely find his way back to his home country as Everton, West Ham United, and other premier league clubs have shown interest.

Mavididi gained valuable experience in the French League and he has shown that he can make the leap to becoming an elite premier league forward with Everton next season. Mavididi had an excellent season for Montpellier. He buried eight goals in his 30 appearances and contributed three assists this season.

Can Stephy Mavididi be a replacement for a departing Everton forward?

Operating largely as a left winger for the French side, he kept a 78% pass completion percentage which ranks tremendously among players in his position. He also possesses some versatility which Lampard has been seeking through some of his other transfer targets.

Mavididi has experience playing as an attacking midfielder, a striker, and a winger throughout his career. Lampard could use the young Englishmen in a plethora of ways making Mavididi extremely valuable.

Montpellier have indicated that they would like £20 million for their young forward according to the Express. Mavididi has lots of potential and great versatility so expect Lampard to make a serious push. The team looks to be in financial trouble but their ability to survive from relegation helps their transfer budgets greatly. Everton should have just enough to make a big signing like this one.
