Frank Lampard’s uncle Harry Redknapp has been speaking about Gareth Bale’s future and says Everton should consider bringing the Wales star to Goodison Park.

Bale’s time at Real Madrid has ended with the former Tottenham player finishing with the Spanish giants winning yet another Champions League beating Liverpool in last season’s final. Perhaps that alone is enough reason for Everton to sign him!

Anyway more seriously, Redknapp has been speculating about what comes next for the Welshman after his contract at the Bernabeu ends this summer and he reckons Bale would be a good punt for a club like Leeds or the Toffees’.

As well as that Champions League win at the end of last month, the 32-year-old has just helped his country to qualify for their first World Cup finals since 1958. So, he’s certainly had an eventful and successful few weeks.

Everyone knows how talented a footballer Bale is and in his prime he was undoubtedly one of the best footballers in Europe, maybe even the World.

That though was quite a while ago and although there have been flashes of his ability recently (mainly in matches for Wales and not his clubs) he hasn’t been very consistent for a long time and has also been struggling with a lot of injuries.

On top of that there have been issues surrounding his attitude and after some controversial incidents he appeared to have fallen hugely out of favour at Real.

Last year he returned to the Premier League and Spurs for a loan. But, apart from the occasional game where he played well, he failed to rekindle anything like the sort of blistering performances for the north London club that had originally got him his move to Madrid.

To be honest it seems very doubtful Lampard will be taking his uncle’s advice and seeking to sign Bale this summer, even if he’s available on a free.

The Wales star on paper offers creativity, goals and plenty of top level experience of course and that’s something this Toffees’ team does need.

But, his injuries and likely wage demands plus those attitiude problems would be major issues, even if Lampard felt his talent would be of use to the Blues’ side.

Everton need to focus their summer recruitment on much younger, emerging talent and Bale obviously doesn’t fall into that category.

There are stories he might be staying in Spain but if not and he does return to England, I don’t think it’s going to be Merseyside where he ends up.
