Reports are circulating that Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot wants a move to the Premier League. So, should Everton revive any previous interest in the Frenchman?

Rabiot is yet another player that Everton have previously been strongly linked with, especially when Carlo Ancelotti was manager.

There was then constant talk that the Toffees’ were keen to bring the Juventus star to Goodison Park, but in the end nothing happened.

Now, there are reports that Rabiot wants a move to England and might well be available for a relatively cut-price fee of around £15 million.

Ever since the end of the season, the Blues’ have been repeatedly connected with a number of central midfielders such as Oleksandr Zichenko and most often Harry Winks.

There are rumours that Winks and Everton are in talks over some sort of deal whether that is a loan or a permanent one.

I’ve written that I don’t think Winks is the answer rather a player like Zinchenko would be a better bet of those two. So, what about Rabiot?

No one really doubts the French midfielder’s talent, but there have been questions about whether he has the right mental attitude to make the most of his ability and this is perhaps why there have often been transfer stories about him surfacing every now and then.

Talking of doubts, there is an increasing amount of unease about the possibility of the Toffees’ signing Tottenham’s want-away midfielder Winks.

While it is important for Everton to try and secure new additions – money permitting of course- as quickly as is feasible, the club absolutely need to get their signings right this summer.

Given the lack of funds because of so much accumulated debt (although that might change if the Blues’ get new owners) it is a critical to get the right sorts of players in who can certainly tangibly improve the performance of the team and squad next season.

In an ideal world a player as talented as Rabiot might well be a good option for Everton and he would be a genuine upgrade on the existing defensive midfield alternatives.

There are however those issues about his attitude and I reckon he is going to be looking for a English team playing in Europe if he is to get his move to the Premier League.
