Stories in the Italian press claim that Juventus are ready to pay off Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey, previously strongly linked with Everton, to give him free agency this summer.

Welshman Ramsey was regularly and repeatedly associated with Everton, again, especially when Carlo Ancelotti was manager.

The former Arsenal man has had a very difficult time in Italy with the Old Lady of Turin and the Italian giants have been trying to get shot of him and his expensive wages for a while now.

Juventus were looking to offload Ramsey last summer and certainly there were plenty of media stories about possible moves for him.

Goodison Park was one of the destinations that was regularly linked to his name but given his age, injury problems and huge wages, there was little chance of such a deal happening even if there was interest from the club.

Well now Ramsey might be available for free if Juve were to cancel his contract and release him as a free agent.

The former Arsenal star has many qualities and is on paper a strong all-round midfielder.

However, his age and past injury record would be a major drawback although the Blues’ have signed a free agent player of a similar age already this summer in Burnley’s James Tarkowski.

One other midfield option who could perhaps be on Everton’s radar is Thomas Soucek of West Ham as apparently, rumours are circulating he might be available for transfer.

This does sound a little strange that the Hammers might be prepared to consider letting him go given that he is a very strong defensive lynchpin-type who has another solid season in the last campaign as the Hammers nearly grabbed a top four place.

Soucek would represent an excellent alternative (if he’s really on the market) to other midfielders being touted for a move to the Toffees,’ such as Harry Winks or even Olesandr Zinchenko, a player I do think should be on any Everton midfield target list.
