Everton are apparently not interested in a move for Watford’s Emmanuel Dennis despite being strongly linked with the Nigerian forward.

Dennis seemed to many, including myself, to represent a good potential replacement for Everton after Richarlison made the move to Tottenham.

He offers similar qualities not just in terms of his goals and assists but also his defensive workrate, something that was a key part of the Brazil international’s game.

Since Richarlison left Goodison Park for north London, Blues’ supporters have been waiting for the club to move and replace him as soon as possible.

So after this news if Dennis, who was available for a reasonable fee and wants to leave the Hornets is not the answer, then who is?

Rumours contimue that Armando Broja is very much on the club’s radar. He has been left out of Chelsea’s squad for their overseas tour but does that mean he’s on the verge of a move?

So far then, we haven’t seen any additions to the Toffees’ squad apart from central defender James Tarkowski signed on a free from Burnley.

There also still seems a possibility that Dominic Calvert-Lewin might leave Everton this summer although that appears to be less likely after Richarlison’s departure.

Frank Lampard is facing so many issues in terms of his squad re-build that’s it’s difficult to prioritise where he needs to focus on first of all.

Midfield needs major surgery with a plethera of names being mentioned as possible additions in the centre of the park. Again though, so far no one has arrived at Finch Farm.

And you could argue the Toffees’ still need another centre-back given the inconsistency and injury-prone nature of the current crop, Tarkowski apart.

I am becoming concerned that the Blues’ are making very little concrete moves in the transfer market and time is ticking on.

Obviously, given the perilous state of the team after that near-disaster of last season and the horrendous financial position makes it tough to get deals done, especially quickly.

But, there is a pressing need for quality reinforcements throughout a squad that has so badly faltered over the last year or so.

It seems as though Everton have wriggle room in the market to spend particularly after selling Richarlison, which helped ensure the club stayed within Premier League financial rules.

The Toffees’ are off to the USA for their pre-season tour, so let’s hope then that we see something happening soon as we move quickly towards the early start of the new Premier League season.
