Back in 2020, Everton were applauded for acquiring the services of a burgeoning youngster Niels Nkounkou for less than £1 million. The left back continues to polish his skills and develop his game. Everton are trying to sign another young left back in Anass Salah-Eddine.

The 20 year old plies his trade for Ajax’s U-21 team in the Dutch second division. Last season, he made his Ajax debut, playing 26 minutes in the Eredivisie in the final game of the season. For Jong Ajax, he played 21 games in the second division. He’s a left back by trade but has played as a left winger too.

The case is very similar to Nkounkou, who has impressive attacking qualities but needs to work on his defensive traits as a fullback. Nkounkou spent the last season on loan at Standard Liege, gathering much needed experience under his belt.

Frank Lampard will make a decision whether to send him out on a loan or keep him as a part of the squad. Nonetheless, the Toffees are interested in Salah-Eddine whose future at Ajax is uncertain.

Everton eye Ajax youngster Anass Salah-Eddine

De Telegraaf journalist Mike Verweij stated that Everton are one of the many clubs keen on the 20 year old youngster. Contract negotiations between Ajax and the player are on but the player’s patience has been put to the test by the Eredivisie club as the negotiations continue to drag on.

His current deal runs till the summer of 2023 and there could be a chance that Dutchman could leave the club on a free transfer next summer if an agreement is not reached. The Dutch giants would want to avoid such a scenario and if it comes to the worst, they will try to cash in on him this summer.

As of now, both parties are apart in negotiations. Ajax’s proposal is not up to the mark for Salah-Eddine and the counter proposal made by the player is considered too high by Ajax. Two Dutch clubs, Club Brugge and Everton have been named suitors for Salah-Eddine.

In case negotiations continue to stall and Ajax decides to cash in on the 20 year old, Everton could launch an operation to sign the left back. At this point, the Toffees have only been mentioned as an interested party and no contact have taken place between the club and the player yet.
