Frank Lampard and the rest of the Everton office have made it clear that Dele Alli is on the way out. Now he has a decision to make.
Dele Alli arrived on Everton on a free transfer in January of 2022. Every year his value seems to decrease but there was a time when the former Tottenham Hotspur was a sought after young prospect. He averaged over 12 goals per season for the first three years in Tottenham. He ranks sixth all-time in Premier League goals by players under the age of 22 but he’s never had quite the same production since. Now Alli is 26 years old and it feels that his best version is lost somewhere.
Dele has played in 13 games for Everton thus far. The English attacking midfielder has had some decent games for the Toffees but he has yet to net a goal or an assist for the club. Many believe that the wonder boy will never regain the spark from his early twenties.
The Toffees has signed him on a free transfer but there were certain stipulations in the deal that would see Everton pay Spurs money in installments. Everton would pay £10 million after Alli would make 20 appearances for the club. The deal could go up to £40 million.
Besiktas are ready to pay up to €10 million for Dele Alli to Everton
According to Turkish media outlet Milliyet (via Sport Witness), Alli will make a decision as to whether he wants to move on from the Premier League to rejuvenate his career in the Super Liga. Besiktas, a Turkish club, has indicated that they would like to either permanently transfer or loan Alli with an option to buy him. As per The Telegraph, Besiktas are ready to pay between €8 million and €10 million to buy the midfielder’s services and he must decide on his future immediately. In that case, the Toffees will have to pay 25% of any fee received to Tottenham.
The Super Lig is a step down from Premier League football but it certainly allows Alli to prove his worth while he is still a young footballer. Besiktas will be able to provide their new midfielder with plenty of playing time and help him solve confidence issues effectively. Besiktas finished just shy of a Europa League appearance last season as the sixth best team in Turkey. They currently stand in the same position just two matches into the new season.
Sadly, Alli’s time in England seems to be coming to an end for now. A player with abundant potential and promise has now become a shadow of himself. The clock is ticking and if Alli needs to get his career back on track.
Will Dele Alli leave permanently?
