The news surrounding Anthony Gordon’s future has seen Everton getting linked to wingers across Europe, mainly England. Watford winger Ismaila Sarr has somewhat been an evergreen target for the Toffees, getting linked with a move to Merseyside in every transfer window.

This transfer window is no different as Sarr has been linked to Everton. Perhaps, it’s just the product of the rumour mill as Gordon’s future at Goodison Park remains uncertain. The local lad has been subject of interest from clubs like Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United this summer. Earlier, Everton straightaway rejected any offers for the 21 year old but Chelsea have been very ambitious.

The London club have submitted a bid of £45 million which was rejected. Chelsea have made their intentions clear to sign Gordon. Everton continue to take the stand that the player is not for sale but an amount of £50 million plus is too big to turn down. The appeal of having a local lad from Merseyside leading the team to the new stadium but the huge amount that Chelsea are ready to offer could solve multiple problems.

If Gordon does depart, the Toffees will have to sign a winger before the end of the transfer window. With less than two weeks remaining for the deadline day, it can all become frantic. The Toffees have been looking at strikers but now they have widened their search in the hope of finding a competent winger.

Everton monitoring Ismaila Sarr

According to Evening Standard, Everton are monitoring Watford winger Sarr. Other Premier League clubs have also been credited with an interest with Crystal Palace pushing to sign the Senegalese attacker. The Championship side is ready to receive offers for 24 year old.

If Palace want to sign Sarr, they will have to break the bank to sign the winger. In order to sign Sarr, any interested club will have to pay in excess of £30 million, the price that Watford paid to Stade Rennais in 2019.

Sarr has shown flashes of brilliance throughout his Watford career but he still has room to grow and develop into a better player. The most distinct highlight was Sarr’s brace against Liverpool in 2020 that ended an 18 match winning run of the Reds.

Sarr is rapid down the flanks and has the tricks in his locker to deceive his opponent. The Senegalese lacks the final product which can be improved with time. If Everton are to sign him, they need to move quickly as Crystal Palace are determined to sign the 24 year old.
