Everton have already signed Amadou Onana to bolster the central midfield, but Frank Lampard is not stopping as he is eyeing another promising youngster. Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus has been on Everton radar as Everton’s rebuild propels forward.

Kudus joined Ajax from Danish side Nordsjaelland for £8.10 million, a significant fee for a young 19 year old midfielder. Those who had seen him at Nordsjaelland would argue that Kudus is worth every penny that Ajax paid and will turn into a mammoth entity if provided the right environment.

The Dutch giants are known to provide amicable conditions to precious young talents to grow and develop, so a move to Amsterdam wasn’t surprising. Since his move to Ajax in 2020, the Ghanaian has made 45 appearances for the Eredivisie champions, netting six goals and providing four assists.

Everton are also trying to complete the deal for Idrissa Gueye. On Everton’s side there is no problem as terms have already been agreed but the move is stalling as PSG are not in favour of terminating the Senegalese midfielder’s contract. Instead, the French giants want a transfer fee from Everton.

Everton reach an agreement on Mohammed Kudus

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Toffees are set to sign Kudus. Personal terms between Everton and Kudus have already been agreed and the deal is in the final stages, closer to completion. The Ghanaian fancied a move to Goodison Park which will work in Everton’s favour. As per journalist Saddick Adams, the Merseysiders want to sign him on a loan with an option to buy.

Kudus is young with bucket loads of potential. He has the ability to fit into a number of formations and carry out the role with alarming ease. The 22 year old has played in advanced midfield roles, however, the idea of him being forward is to retain the possession rather than launching offensive attacks.

At Ajax, Kudus has played regularly as a central midfielder, occupying central spaces with occasional forays forward. Kudus possesses impeccable awareness and neat technical ability, giving him an edge over his competitors in the same age group. The 22 year old has great ability to retain possession even under pressure.

The only cause of concern is his fitness record. Since joining Ajax in 2020, Kudus has missed 41 games because of injury, raising questions over his match fitness. The Toffees have already been plagued by an injury crisis in the past which has had detrimental effects on the results. If Everton are proceeding with the transfer, it means they are ready to take the risk.

Kudus is valued at £9 million by Transfermarkt but the Toffees are pushing for a loan deal with an option to buy. However, the amount for buy option is not stated.
