Everton have received fresh blow in the chase of Mohammed Kudus. The Ajax midfielder was heavily linked with a move for the 22 year old and things seemed to be proceeding in the right direction. The Toffees wanted to sign him on a loan deal with an option to buy, with reports conforming Everton’s attempts to lure the Ghanaian.
Kudus was said to be fancying a move to Goodison and the deal was at the final stages. Kudus would potentially be the sixth signing and second in the midfield. The arrival of Amadou Onana has been a big upgrade, even though he is still in the process of being integrated into the team. The Toffees also have Idrissa Gueye on their list.
An agreement has been reached on personal terms but PSG’s recalcitrance of not letting him go for free is proving to be a stumbling block. Everton are looking at other midfielders and Kudus is one of them. The Ajax man has immense talent and potential and fits into the bracket of Everton finding young midfielders with a future resale value.
With less than two weeks to go for the transfer deadline day, Everton need to act quickly to seal the transfers. The team has made a positive jump compared to last season but there are glaring holes that need to be filled soon or they run the risk of a repeat of last season.
Ajax do not want to sell Everton target Mohammed Kudus
In chase of Kudus, Everton have received a blow. According to the Dutch outlet De Telegraaf (via Football Oranje), Ajax have not received any offers for Kudus. Contrary to reports, Everton have not yet submitted any bids or offers to Ajax to acquire the 22 year old.
Furthermore, the Eredivisie giants are not in favour of selling Kudus this summer. The Ghanaian arrived at Ajax in January 2020 for a fee of €9 million. He has grown as a player and has attracted the attention of clubs across Europe but Ajax are not willing to sell him.
Kudus has had terrible luck with injuries, missing a total of 41 games since joining Ajax. It appears that he has put those days behind him and is fully fit for the new season. The Eredivisie champions are not willing to listen to any offers until the end of the transfer window, so the Toffees may have to leave it late to sign Kudus.
