Everton are off to a tough start in the Premier League and now look to sign a midfielder, Arthur Melo as needed reinforcement.

The Toffees have yet to win a Premier League match. They have had one of the worst attacks once again and they have struggled in possession. Everton have not held more possession than their opponent in any of their first four games.

They currently sit just above the relegation zone once again but Arthur Melo could boost their outlook on the table this season.

Melo is a backbone defensive midfielder who can play at every level and solve Everton’s possession issues. He currently plays for Juventus and would cost the club over £65 million.

He appeared in 20 Serie A matches last season and helped his club to a fourth place finish, which qualifies for a Champions League berth.

The Brazilian is an elite passer and a great defender. He has fine ball skills and can feed the attacking midfielders in stride.

Melo fits perfectly into Lampard’s new scheme which features new defenders such as James Tarkowksi. He has not played in a match this season so a move would be best for all parties involved.

He has experience playing against elite competition in both Serie A and the Champions League. Melo appeared in six champions league matches last season and seven in the previous year.

He is an experienced veteran yet he has plenty of upside and potential since he is only 26 years old.

Everton need to act quick to reverse their losing tendancy. The club has not had a very difficult schedule thus far yet sit at 18th on the table. It is vital that the team fixes their attacking and midfield issues and it starts by signing Melo.

Do you think Lampard can pull off the signing?
