As the countdown continues towards their next Premier League match at Fulham, Everton are being linked with another young forward.

This time it’s the Wolves and Portugal player Daniel Podence who is according to some media reports, on the radar of Everton as they continue to look at potential forward reinforcements.

These stories are coming thick and fast and this latest one claims the Blues’ are ready to make another move to pinch a player from the Molineux club.

If they did, it would come after the Toffees’ signed Conor Coady on loan in a transfer move that could turn out to be one of the best moves of the summer window.

Coady has been superb for Everton since moving from the Midlands club to Merseyside and he is now an integral member of his new employers’ defence.

But although the defence has certainly improved a great deal since last season, it is the Blues’ attack that is most in need of reinforcements now.

As we all know Everton have struggled to score enough goals in this campaign so far and while last weekend’s win over Crystal Palace saw some much improved attacking play with three goals scored, there is still a pressing need for new faces up front.

Too much still seems to ultimately depend on Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s fitness. And, if as seems likely given his recent history, the England centre-forward was to go down injured again, the Toffees’ would struggle once more in front of goal.

So, the rumour mill continues and Podence is the latest footballer to be mentioned as a possible Everton target.

The Portuguese hasn’t set the Premier League on fire this season but he is of course playing in a struggling Wolves side and has been on the losing side most of the campaign.

He is a versatile attacker who can play in a number of positions, something that would I imagine interest the Blues’.

Although Podence has only netted twice, it would still seem rather strange for Wolves to sanction his departure to a rival and the same club that they so surprisingly sanctioned Coady’s move to.

Stories like this with tenous links to this player and that are certain to continue especially as we edge closer to January’s transfer window.
