Everton takes on Leicester City at Goodison Park on Saturday as Frank Lampard’s men aim to go unbeaten for three games in a row. Everton arguably had the best performance of the season against Crystal Palace, followed by a hard fought and a well earned draw at Fulham. Leicester City have been struggling since the start of the season and sits 18th in the Premier League table.

Last weekend against Fulham, Nathan Patterson returned to the team, playing 25 minutes of the game. Dominic Calvert-Lewin seems to have gotten the required match fitness as he started the Fulham game too and has looked sharper than before.

In terms of injuries, Everton had poor luck since the start of the season with the likes of Calvert-Lewin, Ben Godfrey and Yerry Mina picking up injuries. Patterson also joined the injury list, depleting the team of a solid attacking option.

Slowly, but steadily a lot of players have returned from injury. Mina and Godfrey remained sidelined as they recover from their long term injuries. Ahead of the game against Leicester, Lampard gave fitness updates on the defender duo.

While neither of the players are ready for the Leicester game, it is surely positive news as both the centre backs are nearing completion of their recovery. Ahead of the final few games before the FIFA World Cup, Everton will be hoping that at least Mina is able to feature in the match day squad before the World Cup.

Lampard is settled with the choice of James Tarkowski and Conor Coady but having a cushion of extra centre backs is never a bad thing. Only three points separate Leicester and Lampard’s side, so the Toffees will be hoping to secure a win and jump further away from the bottom half of the table.

Next. Everton need positive attacking performance as they host Foxes. dark
