Watford star Sarr once again linked with Everton transfer
Another young forward who has been previously linked with a move to Everton, is reportedly back on the club’s radar as the New Year transfer window approaches.
That player is Watford’s Ismaila Sarr. The 24-year-old forward has in the past been an alledged target of Everton and is now again, according to the Daily Mirror.
Sarr has been playing for Senegal in the World Cup until the African side were beaten by England in their round-of-sixteen match last Sunday.
With the World Cup now over for Sarr and his team-mates (including the Blues’ own Idrissa Gueye) he will be returning to Watford where he has been performing well for the Hornets.
The versatile forward has netted six times and contributed four assists as Watford are pushing hard for promotion back to the Premier League.
Sarr has previously been linked with the Toffees’ and a number of other Premier League clubs including most especially, Liverpool.
The story in the Mirror claims that Everton are one of several top flight clubs apparently interested in a January bid for him of around £35 million or so.
However, the article also says that Watford boss Slaven Billic is determined to keep the Senegal star at Vicarage Road to support their promotion bid, and will strongly resist any offers for him in the New Year.
So, this rumour looks as though it will be unlikely to come to any fruition as indeed is the case with so many of these transfer stories.
In other related news, any attempt by Blues’ boss Frank Lampard to bring in Chelsea striker Amando Broja this January will be subject to competition from other clubs, including most of all Italian giants AC Milan.
Broja was a player that Everton looked at hard over the summer and his name regularly popped up as a target for the Toffees’.
He has since signed a new contract at Stamford Bridge so any permanent move for the Albanian international looks unlikely.
However, a loan deal in January could well have made sense for him as despite his new contract, he still isn’t getting much playing time under new Chelsea manager Graham Potter.
But, if Milan and other major European clubs are interested in him, Everton’s chances of a deal for the former Southampton loanee look slim.
