After ex-Birmingham City player Jude Bellingham’s standout performances for England in the World Cup, another one of their young stars is linked with a move to Everton.

Bellingham has been a revelation in the tournament and now another young talent at Birmingham has emerged as a possible transfer target for several Premier League clubs, including Everton.

18-year-old George Hall has been catching the eye for City this season and inevitably that has resulted in stories and rumours he might be moving on to bigger pastures very soon.

The Daily Mail claim that Leeds United and Liverpool are also interested in the midfielder and could even make a move for him in January.

Hall is one of a number of promising youngsters emerging at St Andrews including Bellingham’s younger brother Jobe.

Although strengthening the team’s attack is the obvious priority for the New Year transfer window, the Toffees’ continue to be linked with a number of midfielders in the media.

And this comes after a summer in which the Blues signed two young midfield players in Amadou Onana and James Garner as well as bringing Idrissa Gueye back to the club.

These sort of highly speculative rumours are of course probably just that. But it does reflect the sort of stories we have seen in the last few weeks again.

It is a little bit of a strange situation because given how limited manager Frank Lampard’s funds are likely to be and the lack of time to make signings, surely the focus must be on getting two or three forwards in, not more midfielders.

Talking about forward players there is still plenty of talk about a January move by Everton for Ismaila Sarr the Watford and Senegal star.

Sarr is being constantly linked with a transfer to Goodison Park in the New Year. And, again there are more stories that he is on Lampard’s radar.

Whatever the truth of these rumours we only have a few more weeks to wait before the window opens once again and we find out what Everton really do.
