Everton offered the chance to sign £8.8 million attacker
Everton need to bring in new faces in January as Frank Lampard looks to engineer another survival campaign. The attack is the area of focus and Everton have been given the chance to sign Newcastle United winger Ryan Fraser.
If there is one area that requires major surgery, it is the frontline. Everton’s effectiveness in the final third is appalling and Lampard needs to bring players who can pose threat in the attack. Neal Maupay’s performances have been unproductive; Dominic Calvert-Lewin struggles to muster performances after a string of injuries.
On the flanks, Dwight McNeil seems to be taking forever to settle at Goodison Park, and while his crossing is average, his threat into the box is negligible. Demarai Gray possesses blistering pace but is underwhelming with his final pass. Anthony Gordon is going through a rough patch as well. The collective failure of the attacking unit has put a lot of pressure on Everton as they sit deep in relegation zone, with just 15 goals scored this season.
Everton will look to invest in at least one striker and one winger in the January transfer window. The majority of the transfer links emerging now have seen strikers and wingers get associated with a move to the blue half of Merseyside.
Everton offered the chance to sign Ryan Fraser from Newcastle United
Duvan Zapata, Terem Moffi, Anthony Elanga, Marko Arnautovic, Dango Ouattara and many more have been linked. According to i News, Newcastle United’s wide man Fraser is available for a transfer and has been offered to Everton.
The Telegraph reported earlier that Newcastle are willing to listen to offers for the former Bournemouth man as Fraser seems to be frustrated with the lack of first team opportunities. The 28 year old has slipped down the pecking order as Eddie Howe prefers Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron on the flanks. Fraser has just played 311 minutes of Premier League football this season.
Fraser is prepared to leave the Toons in January as he searches for regular football elsewhere. It is unclear if Everton are interested in Fraser and have carried forward the talks after the Scottish winger was offered to the Merseyside club.
Fraser comes with the experience of playing in the Premier League for seven seasons and counting. The 28 year old might not be the most prolific names out there but he surely does offer something different than Everton’s available options.
If available for the right price, it might be worth taking a punt as Everton continues to scramble for answers to save themselves from relegation.
