At this point, almost every striker in Europe is getting linked to Everton. Since the opening of the transfer window, the Toffees have been linked to a long list of names as they aim to reinforce the attack. Werder Bremen forward Niclas Fullkrug is just another name that gets added in the list.

The Merseysiders need to act quickly as there are only a little over 10 days left in the January transfer window. Everton have been linked to a lot of strikers but talks aren’t moving forward as quickly as they had hoped. Nonetheless, the rumour mill continues to produce new rumours every day.

The Merseysiders have netted just 15 goals in 19 Premier League games, joint second lowest tally in the league. The lack of goals has had an obvious consequence as they failed to win games and find themselves in the relegation zone. In fact, Frank Lampard’s side have recorded the lowest number of wins (3) in the Premier League.

The primary objective now is to survive the relegation battle and scrape out as many points as possible until the end of the season. Everton need 25 points to reach the magical number of 40 and if Lampard’s men are to reach that figure, they will need ruthless and reliable goalscorers in the squad.

Everton eye Werder Bremen striker Niclas Fullkrug

According to the German publication Bild, Everton are eyeing a move for Werder Bremen forward Fullkrug, who has 10 goals in 14 Bundesliga games. Interest is high in the German as two Bundesliga sides along with Everton have shown interest in the 29 year old.

Bundesliga clubs Hoffenheim and Borussia Monchengladbach admire the 29 year old. Georginio Rutter joined Leeds United from Hoffenheim and the German club are eyeing a striker to replace Rutter. Manager Andre Breitenreiter thinks of Fullkrug as a viable replacement and knows him well from their days together at Hannover 96.

On the other hand, the future of Marcus Thuram at Monchengladbach is still up in the air. Thuram is wanted by some top clubs in Europe and in the event of a January departure, Borussia Monchengladbach will consider Fullkrug.

Everton will have to battle the two German clubs and convince the 29 year old to make the switch from Germany to England. Fullkrug is valued at €10 million by Transfermarkt but Bremen are likely to ask for a bigger amount for their starting striker.

At this point, only Everton’s name has been mentioned as one of the potential suitors so it remains to be seen if anything concrete comes out of it or if this remains as one of the many rumors produced during the January window.
