Everton need to move quickly in the transfer window to sign a forward. The Toffees are lacking grit and firepower in the frontline and despite being linked to a dozen of names, there has been no concrete success in attracting any name. This might be about to change as Everton seem to be closing on Arnaut Danjuma.
A lot of Everton targets are moving to other clubs. Danny Ings has already signed for West Ham United. Dango Ouattara is on his way to AFC Bournemouth. Newcastle United striker Chris Wood has agreed a deal with Nottingham Forest. With targets vanishing from the list, pressure piles on Everton to do the desired business quickly.
Goalscoring or the lack of in this case, has been a recurring issue for the Toffees all season. In order avoid the relegation, EFC need lethal goalscorers up top and they have a little over 10 days to sign one. 15 goals in 19 Premier League games isn’t a glowing endorsement of the attacking ability of the team.
Danjuma has been a target for Everton since the start of the winter transfer window. The Merseysiders wanted to sign him on a loan deal until the end of the season and include an option to buy. Villarreal are seemingly open to the idea of letting the Dutchman depart as he has fallen down the pecking order at El Madrigal.
Everton are now the favourites to sign Arnaut Danjuma
Aston Villa also admire the 25 year old as their manager Unai Emery unlocked new levels of productivity in Danjuma. Under Emery’s tutelage at Villarreal, Danjuma produced his best numbers last season, scoring 16 times in 34 outings. Not only Villa but Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with an interest.
A few days ago, a report surfaced that Danjuma had been given permission to fly to England and discuss a move away from Villarreal. As things stand, even PSV have entered the chase as the Dutch club have lost Cody Gakpo to Liverpool and will soon lose Noni Madueke to Chelsea.
However, as per The Telegraph, Everton are the favourites to sign Danjuma on a loan deal until the end of the season. The 25 year old is intrigued by the challenge that the Everton project possesses. Thrown into the deep end of the relegation battle, Danjuma wants a challenge of this size as he eyes a return to the Premier League.
The former Bournemouth man can massively improve the frontline. He has a release clause of £45 million but the Merseysiders will be acquiring him on an initial loan deal and a potential option-to-buy clause included in the agreement.
The Toffees are finding it difficult to attract talent because of the mess on and off the pitch and here is Danjuma who is attracted by the challenge, so the bosses shouldn’t waste any time and get the deal done.
