Everton have been left shocked and bewildered by Arnaut Danjuma’s decision to ditch Everton and join Tottenham on loan, especially when the medical and media coverage was coverage was done. After seeing their deal getting hijacked, EFC are now trying to hijack a deal for Bamba Dieng.

What can possibly go wrong for Everton is going wrong. The Toffees are being knocked down from all sides. On and off the pitch, the club is in shambles and there seems to be no end point to this suffering. Everton were desperate to sign a forward to solve their goalscoring woes and stand a chance of escaping relegation.

After being linked to a number of strikers for weeks, the Toffees seemed to have narrowed down their choice to Danjuma and managed to convince him to join the club until the end of the season. The medical and media recording was also completed over the weekend and the Dutchman was set to be announced as the new signing on Monday.

Tottenham came in and hijacked the deal at the eleventh hour and in a dramatic U-turn, the 25 year old is now set to join Spurs, ditching Everton. The Merseysiders are now back to the drawing board, searching for a striker as well as a new manager after sacking Frank Lampard.

Everton eye Bamba Dieng after failed Danjuma deal

According to French media outlet Foot Mercato, Everton are trying to hijack a deal between Olympique Marseille and FC Lorient. The two French clubs have a verbal agreement for a swap deal which will see Dieng go to Lorient and Terem Moffi arrive at Marseille.

Lorient and Nice were in negotiations for Moffi with a €20 million bid rejected by Lorient. Marseille are also keen on the Nigerian and were ready to offer Dieng to Lorient. In fact, Dieng and Lorient had an agreement in place, however, the recent turn of events could see EFC snatch Dieng.

The Senegalese striker has always dreamt of playing in the Premier League and is definitely attracted by the prospect of playing for the Toffees. The Merseysiders are yet to get a deal over the line but given Dieng’s affinity to the Premier League, an agreement could be reached but that will spoil the arrangement between Lorient and Marseille.

Dieng has played second fiddle to Alexis Sanchez and played just 186 minutes in Ligue 1. He has managed to score once but is still a competent striker.
