Everton need to sign a striker before the end of the winter transfer window. The Toffees were close to sealing a deal for Arnaut Danjuma but Tottenham Hotspur managed to hijack the deal at the eleventh hour. Now, Everton are back to the drawing board and wants to sign Bologna striker Marko Arnautovic.

Everton seemed to have gotten their target in Danjuma. The player went through the medicals at Finch Farm and also recorded the media duties as a new signing. All that remained was putting pen on paper. Then came the news of Frank Lampard’s sacking and Danjuma decided to not sign for Everton, instead Spurs came in and hijacked the deal.

The Toffees are blunt in the attack as Dominic Calvert-Lewin is not firing, and Neal Maupay has been underwhelming. Dwight McNeil has failed to settle at the club and Anthony Gordon has been struggling too. The whole attacking unit has not performed up to the mark and the lack of goalscoring has landed the Toffees in the relegation zone.

If the Toffees are to stand a chance of surviving the relegation battle, under any manager, they will need to a new forward and another winger. With Gordon reportedly on his way to Newcastle United, the money from his sale will allow the Merseysiders to reinforce the attack and sign the desired targets.

Everton want to sign Marko Arnautovic

EFC were linked with Bologna forward Arnautovic about a week ago. Back then even Duvan Zapata and Beto were linked from Serie A. The Austrian striker has Premier League experience with West Ham United and Stoke City.

According to Tutto Mercato Web, the Toffees are thinking of making an offer for the 33 year old. Bologna value him for €15-€20 million but the Serie A club is uninterested in selling the striker in January. Nonetheless, Arnautovic is Everton’s top striker target.

The former West Ham United and Stoke City forward played 184 Premier League games and scored 43 goals. He is contracted at Bologna till 2025 and it is unlikely that the Serie A club will be open to selling Arnautovic.

Everton have also been linked to Marseille striker Bamba Dieng. Dieng had a verbal agreement with Lorient as Marseille and Lorient were looking for a player plus swap deal that would see Terem Moffi go to Marseille and Dieng sign for Lorient. The Senegalese striker is intrigued by the idea of playing in the Premier League. It remains to be seen if Everton are able to get Dieng or Arnautovic.
