Sean Dyche is widely expected to be named Everton manager and according to reports he might well revive a previously rumoured move for Southampton striker Che Adams.

This was one of many transfer claims earlier in the month as Everton were being linked with just about any and every forward in Europe.

And now, with Dyche inching closer to taking over the reigns at Goodison Park interest in Adams has apparently re-ignited.

The former Burnley boss supposedly has several targets in his sights and work is going on behind the scenes to bring these players in.

Dyche will also have an unexpected cash windfall with the sale of Anthony Gordon to Newcastle United now going through.

So, he may well have the fee for Gordon (rumoured to be about £45 million) to spend before the transfer window shuts on Tuesday night.

Adams is a centre-forward who can offer goals, although he’s not very prolific. To be honest, if he was he wouldn’t be a potential candidate to join the Blues’!

This season has been very much like that. He’s netted four time in 17 starts for the Saints and managed another two assists. Certainly not earth-shattering stuff.

It could well be that Dyche is a big fan of his and may consider him to be another striking option as he scours the market for new faces.

Any deal for Adams may also hinge on where Kamaldeen Suleman ends up. The young Senegal forward is another name that has been mentioned in connection with the Toffees’.

But, Southampton are also interested in him and there are various reports about who is in the driving seat for this player.

If the Saints were to win the race to sign him, then they might well sanction a move away for Adams, so opening the door for him to move to Merseyside.

However, Everton, with the Gordon fee presumably banked very soon, might well now be able to move ahead and offer more for Suleman.

To be honest I don’t know if Suleman is the right option and the sort of money being quoted to secure him, around £40 million seems excessive.

Having said that a young forward with real potential is probably preferable to a player in Adams who is unlikely to get any better.

The Blues’ are also being strongly linked again with a late move for Viktor Gyokeres. The Coventry and Sweden striker is highly-rated and for me would probably be the best bet for Everton rather than Adams.

Hopefully, we might see an announcement from the club soon to confirm Dyche is actually the new manager and then there might be some clarity about who he wants to sign.
