Everton have been exploring the free agent market after failing to sign a single player in the January transfer window. The Toffees are also tracking the delicate situation of Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

EFC were the only Premier League club to not have signed a player in the winter transfer window, giving Sean Dyche no option but to make the best out of the current squad. The only possibility to add players outside of the transfer window is to sign free agents from the free agent market.

Andre Ayew was available after he terminated his contract with Al Sadd and Everton had preliminary talks with the Ghanaian international. The 33 year old flew to London to hold talks with Everton and Nottingham Forest but eventually decided to join Forest. The Merseysiders also evaluated Isco as an option to strengthen the midfield.

The Spaniard would add a different dimension of playmaking to the team but his physical output will be low which wouldn’t match Dyche’s demands. Even though Isco remains open to an offer from Everton, this deal looks far from happening.

Everton tracking Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Chelsea

According to Football Insider, the Toffees are monitoring Aubameyang’s situation at Chelsea. The Gabonese striker has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge after Graham Potter omitted the 33 year old from Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League squad. Chelsea signed Aubameyang in the summer as the Gabonese linked up with Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel was then sacked and in came Potter who has neglected Aubameyang. The former Barcelona striker has struggled to get regular game time as Potter prefers to deploy Kai Havertz in the striker’s role. Aubameyang was also omitted from Chelsea’s squad against Fulham, even though he was fully fit to play.

The 33 year old could look to terminate his contract if the situation doesn’t improve at Chelsea. If Aubameyang does terminate his contract, Everton must consider signing the player. It is no secret that the Toffees have struggled to get goals this season and Aubameyang’s addition could do a whole lot of good for the team.

His form has been volatile this season but he could support Dominic Calvetr-Lewin in sharing the goalscoring responsibility. Despite being 33, the former Arsenal man is athletic and has the firepower to score goals on regular basis. The player still has 18 months left on his Chelsea deal but it is unlikely he will stay at Stamford Bridge until the end of his contract.
