Everton starlet Isaac Price is in the final three months of his contract and is yet to sign a new deal with the Toffees. The U-21 star has made headlines when he made his Everton debut last season in the FA Cup tie against Boreham Wood. He was one of the most exciting youngsters emerging from the lot but he is now expected to leave the Toffees in the summer.

The Merseysiders have been keen to retain the services of Price who made his Premier League debut on the final day of last season, coming on as a substitute against Arsenal. The box to box midfielder was in negotiations with Everton but he has decided to leave as he is looking for first team opportunities.

According to The Athletic, if a move takes place this summer, Everton will be due to receive a compensation of £400,000. Price has decided to leave Everton as he thinks that the Toffees aren’t the right club for him and is now attracting interest from England and Europe.

Isaac Price closing in on Everton exit

Belgian Pro League side Standard Liege has been admirers and Price is close to joining the Belgian side on a pre-contract arrival. However, Standard Liege are not the only side interested in the 19 year old youngster.

Clubs from Germany, Scotland and the EFL Championship are also keen to sign Price but the prospect of regular football and potential European competition appeals to the Northern Ireland international.

According to Liverpool ECHO, Standard Liege are ahead in the battle to sign Price. Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers are also keen to bring the talented midfield prospect to the Scottish Premiership. The driving force for Price is to get regular appearances and he wants to test himself at senior level.

Celtic and Rangers are trailing in the battle as Liege are favourites to land him in the summer. According to journalist Kevin Sauvage, Price has been around the Standard Liege setup and has recently visited the training facilities of the Belgian club with his parents. Liege are prepared to offer a four year contract to the 19 year old as first team opportunities could come easily at the Maurice Dufrasne Stadium.

Price was highly regarded by former manager Frank Lampard and is still considered as one of the best upcoming talents from Finch Farm. His exit will surely be a blow to Everton but the compensation of £400k will somewhat soften the blow.
