The summer transfer window opened two days ago and unsurprisingly Everton haven’t made any concrete moves as yet.

Constant rumours are flying around though as always, and one of the latest links the Blues with a move for Leeds United midfielder Jack Harrison.

Inevitably, after their relegation the Yorkshire club’s players are under subject to lots of speculation about their future. Everton are claimed to be interested in one of them.

Harrison had a decent season for Leeds and notched five goals from midfield as well as being credited with seven assists.

Those are pretty good numbers for a midfielder and given his age there seems room for further improvement in his performances as he moves towards his peak.

The Toffees certainly need goals from any and every source they can find them.

While signing strikers who can find the back of the net is obviously crucial, players from throughout the team will have to also step up again next season and contribute more.

There are several midfielders with clubs who went down who can provide goals from that area of the pitch and who will almost certinaly be available now.

Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse is another of course. Like Harrison he is also English and had a fine campaign for a struggling side.

Harrison is a player who can operate in a number of different positions which might well appeal to Sean Dyche who needs options and cover in his squad.

Anyway, just more speculative talk. And, until Everton actually make any moves for a player or two we are all still in the dark about who exactly Dyche and co are genuinly interested in and looking at.

With the new season fixtures having been announced and the Blues desperately needing a good start to the campaign after so many poor ones recently, the right reinforcements are going to be crucial in helping achieve that. Could Harrison be one of them?
