Transfer rumours continue with fresh stories that Everton are tracking a striker they were linked with back in January.

That player is Boulaye Dia. The Salernitana forward is said to be a target again for the Toffees and possibly other Premier League clubs too.

Dia was a player who was said to be on the agenda for Everton back in January as the club desperately tried to add attacking threat to a team struggling so badly to score goals.

He wasn’t alone in that respect of course, as nearly every forward you could think of was being linked with a possible move to Merseyside at one point, particularly on deadline day.

These reports, originating in Italy, claim the Toffees are interested in another move for the Senegal striker this summer.

The 26-year-old had a standout season last term for the Italian club as he notched sixteen goals for the mid-table side.

Everton clearly need a forward with pace, power and the instinct to score goals.

Ideally too, a player who can lead the line on his own, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin can do effectively, whenever on the rare occasions he is fit.

At £10 million Dia looks a probable bargain, especially at his age and the fact he can find the back of the net. Other clubs will no doubt be running the rule over him this summer.

There are many such players floating around in the transfer market, including some who are available for free and these have also been strongly linked with the Blues because money is so tight.

At the moment the Toffees are making no concrete moves to bring in new talent and so we have no idea who is a priority for Sean Dyche.

I suspect that Everton might have to sell before any incomings can be considered, even though there is presumably money in the kitty after the January sale of Anthony Gordon to Newcastle United and Moise Kean’s final permanent return to Juventus.

This is what happened last summer when the Blues had to let Richarlison leave for Spurs before any significant signings could be made.

It looks as though Manchester United and possibly others, are willing to test the Toffees commitment to keeping Jordan Pickford and Amadou Onana has long been rumoured to be a target for other clubs.

I would keep Pickford at all costs as finding another top drawer keeper will be very tough to do. That means if push comes to shove, I’d prefer to sell Onana.
