Everton seem to be planning not only for the next season but for distant future too. The Toffees are looking at players that could potentially be developed and can make an impact in the first team in the future. One such player that is being considered is PSG midfielder Ayman Kari.

According to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, EFC are interested in signing Kari from PSG and have approached the French club regarding the same. The Toffees are not the only English side keen to sign the 18 year old as Leicester City have also asked about the central midfielder.

Kari spent the second half of the 2022-23 season on loan at Lorient where he ended up making five Ligue 1 appearances as a substitute. The French U-19 midfielder is a promising player and Lorient want to keep him at the club. PSG have already agreed a deal with Les Merlus which would see Lorient pay €5 million to the Parisiens. The French champions have also inserted a buy back clause in the deal.

However, Kari to Lorient is not a done deal yet. Les Merlus are indeed frontrunners in Kari’s chase but Everton and Leicester City are also interested and have initiated contacts with PSG for the 18 year old. Kari is yet to make a decision over his future.

Everton are probably looking at Kari as a player to strengthen the U-21 side. If the Merseysiders do end up signing the PSG midfielder, he is likely to spend a major chunk of his time with the U-21 side, honing his skills and working on his development.

Kari is to be viewed as a midfielder that will be part of Everton’s long term future but if he manages to impress Sean Dyche, his path to the first team could be fast tracked. Kari caught the eye of many in PSG colours during the UEFA Youth League in 2022 and was admired by Bayern Munich.

The 18 year old is a highly rated prodigy in Paris and has a very high ceiling. If he decides to take the plunge and leave France, a move to the Premier League will be seen as a bold move. If the Toffees manage to sign the 18 year old, they’ll be laying their hands on one of the most promising midfielders emerging from France.
