Everton have been linked with one of the most promising youngsters from Japan. The Toffees are tracking the progress of Jubilo Iwata forward Keisuke Goto. Perhaps, Goto is being viewed as a player for the future and does not immediately come into the starting lineup.

According to Daily Mail, Everton have watched Japanese striker Goto. The Toffees are not the only English side keen on the 18 year old starlet with West Ham United also monitoring Goto. From Spain, Sevilla have shown a lot of interest in the Japanese youngster who has impressed for Jubilo Iwata in the J2 League.

Leveraging on his form this season, the 18 year old was due to represent Japan in the U20 World Championships but an injury ruled him out of the tournament. The Japanese starlet stands 6 feet 3 inches tall and despite his physical build, is quick and good with the ball at his feet. Goto often likes to drop deep and then burst into the box with the help of his pace.

In the J2 League, the 18 year old has netted five goals and caught the eye of many scouts from Europe. Everton and West Ham are keen on Goto and if they are to bring the Japanese striker to England, they will have to do so through the GBE rule. Under GBE rule, young players with exceptional talent who do not qualify for work under the points system are given an exemption.

Everton do need to sign a striker this summer but Goto is not the player who would immediately be a part of the first team. The 18 year old is likely to spend majority of his time with the Everton U-21 squad and EFC will track the progress of the striker.

Everton’s striker problem needs immediate attention and while Goto is an exciting young forward but he can’t be the solution to EFC’s current problems. The Merseysiders have been linked with strikers like Viktor Gyokeres, Boulaye Dia, Brandon Vazquez, Joel Piroe and many other names.

Everton could miss out on Gyokeres as Sporting are confident of getting a deal done but EFC must not lose sight of their focus and bring in a solid striker this summer.
