Everton are apparently closing in on their second summer signing as a move for Arnaut Danjuma edges closer and are now being linked with adding another Dutch forward: Brian Brobbey.

Ajax striker Brobbey, a Hollan Under-21 international, is the latest attacking name to be speculatively associated with a possible move to the blue half of Merseyside in this summer transfer window.

Finding forwards who can score goals has of course been Everton manager Sean Dyche’s main priority in this summer transfer window.

So far, only one new player has been added to the squad in Ashley Young and whatever else he can provide, the veteran former England international isn’t going to help score goals.

If reports circulating this afternoon are to be believed the Toffees are close to finally signing a forward they tried to bring in back in January, one who I felt they shouldn’t go back for.

When, or if, Danjuma does finally put pen to paper – and we’ve been here before only to see the player snub Everton for Spurs – the Blues will still need more attacking reinforcements.

Dutchman Brobbey is another young forward player with potential perhaps but still relatively umproven at the highest level.

He has made over fifty appearances for Ajax and netted a total of twenty-three times, which is a decent return albiet in only a short space of time.

The combination of his youth and relative lack of experience probably makes him the sort of affordable player with the profile Everton might well be interested in, although supposedly no bid has been made.

Despite huge financial constraints, it has been claimed the Toffees top brass have still been working hard behind the scenes to get deals done and secure for Dyche the four new additions he has asked for.

Brobbey seems like a long shot but with the prolifiration of constant rumours about this forward or that being a target, so who knows.
